Troupe #3637 has qualified for state eight years in a row, receiving superior ratings every year. In 2014, our original one act play represented all of Florida at Nationals in Lincoln, Nebraska. Our students have earned acceptance into prestigious universities all across the country. Students have won performance and technical scholarships at our district and state theatre competitions each of the last three years, as well as a full paid scholarship to some of the top universities in the country.
In 2016, a South Dade student was one of four students chosen to have her original play workshopped and produced as part of the Playworks competition at the International Thespian Festival. Her play was later published by the Samuel French publishing company, and can be purchased by theatregoers all over the world.
Theatre Audition Requirements:
- Participate in a partial session including theater games and improvisations. You are encouraged to use creativity, imagination, and concentration.
- Perform a memorized monologue from a published theater work that should not exceed one minute and should be reflective of your age group. Judges will look for how natural and honest the performance was as well as vocal projection and focus.
- Prepare to sing 32 bars of musical theatre piece. If desired, bring accompaniment on CD or MP3 Player, or sing acapella.
- Applicants to all programs must bring a one page resume and attach a picture not to exceed a 5 x7. Please be sure your name is written on the back of the picture and prepare for an individual interview.
